A Receipt Is More Than A Polite Extra
When a scrap car is finally being collected, the relief can make the paperwork feel secondary. The space is cleared, the neighbour stops asking about it, and the driveway looks usable again. Still, receipts before the vehicle leaves are worth sorting while the car is still in front of you.
A receipt does not need to look formal or old-fashioned. It can be an email, text confirmation or digital document. The key point is that it ties the buyer, vehicle, price, payment and collection together in one clear record.
What The Receipt Should Identify
Start with who took the car. That means the business or buyer name, the contact you dealt with, and the driver or collection company if different. If a yard arranged the purchase but a recovery firm collected, note both.
Then connect the receipt to the vehicle. The registration is the most important detail, but make, model, colour and collection address help too. If the car was collected from a Blackburn garage, workplace yard or relative's house, that address should match the arrangement.
Include The Price And Payment Route

After collection, put the quote, receipt, payment evidence and handover photo in one phone folder or email chain. If a relative, mechanic or staff member helped release the car, ask them to forward any messages they received.
